ZCME Board Member Vikki Yu's Prayer and Perseverance Lead to Life-Saving Surgery for Pila, Laguna Resident
Pila, Laguna— In a heartwarming display of faith, determination, and community support, Vikki Yu, a board member of the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs (ZCME), recently shared the story of how a desperate plea from a father led to a life-saving surgery for his daughter.
The young woman, a resident of Pila, Laguna, had been suffering from a massive growth that made her appear pregnant. What had initially been diagnosed as a simple myoma had grown into a large mass, causing severe physical and emotional distress. Her father, overwhelmed by the situation, turned to Vikki Yu, a prominent figure in their community, for help.
Moved by the father's plea, Vikki turned to her faith. She prayed fervently to God, seeking guidance through the intercession of St. Anthony of Padua, hoping to find the right doctor who could provide the necessary medical care. Her prayers were soon answered when Dr. Aileen Cheng, a fellow ZCME member and head of the club’s Medical Programs, came to mind.
Vikki reached out to Dr. Cheng, who immediately sprang into action. Leveraging her network and expertise, Dr. Cheng helped Vikki find the best doctors at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). She also generously provided financial support, ensuring that the young woman received the care she desperately needed.
In just two weeks, the collaboration between Vikki and Dr. Cheng paid off. The young woman underwent surgery this morning, during which the enormous mass, measuring 60x60x30 cm, was successfully removed. Miraculously, the operation went smoothly, with no complications, and the mass was confirmed to be benign.
"Praise and thank God," Vikki Yu said, expressing her gratitude for the successful outcome. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to ZCME and to Dr. Cheng, whose compassion and professionalism made the surgery possible. "It was through ZCME that I met Aileen, and together we were able to collaborate and make this miracle happen," she added.
The young woman’s recovery is now underway, bringing immense relief to her family and community.
